Background: I'm in charge of selling my parents' house now that my Dad has moved to a retirement community.

I thought the real estate agent was going to meet the carpet installers at the house this morning, but she didn't. I ended up having to rush over there to sign a paper saying yes, the carpet they brought was the correct color, and I had shown them where to install it. Then I came home. I have to go back over there in a few hours, and after that I'm taking my Dad to my mother-out-law's birthday dinner.

About half an hour after I got home continuous loud jackhammering started at a house nearby. I had to close the windows. Now it is only annoying and not deafening and stressing the cats to pieces.

Closing the windows made the house humid.

So I decided to make myself some iced coffee. We don't actually have real ice, we have colorful fruit-shaped bits of plastic with water in them that we freeze. So here's my bad mood beverage, served in my bad mood coffee mug.

I love your ice. We had some of that years ago, but apparently things disappear as three kids move out of the house. Who'd've thunk it?

I am so utterly unsurprised by that. YouTube! Though I have to warn you that I haven't checked this particular video for accuracy and whatnot; not at home yet so can't. It's by this 80s German punk band called Feeling B.

Well, no, more of my sister stealing our mom's stuff ;) Still awful! Shame!

It's wrong to giggle at your pain, but that iced coffee is so cute.

Hope you feel better. Hope the beverage and faux-ice cheered you up. (That faux-ice would just piss me off, but then, that's how I am.)

struggling with the concept of dehydrated ice here ... LOL - say, do they put a sell-by or a use-by date on those huge bags of ice they sell in supermarkets?

Totally random question...to make iced coffee, do you pour ice into hot coffee and then wait for it to cool? Or is there a way of making lukewarm coffee, to which one can then add ice?

...or a coffee connoisseur! I know at least one coffee shop that advertises cold brewed coffee, which is supposed to be less bitter. Also, it's so easy to make, and then it waits patiently in the fridge for you in the morning.

Hehe...it's so...festive!

Sorry to hear you're having a rough day. I've had a rough last few days as well. My child is starting middle school tomorrow and has been spazzy about it for several days now.

me too...especially given that I've yet to hear of a *good* middle school experience.

My middle school experience did not suck, despite my dad going around announcing that "seventh-graders are the lowest form of human life." (He meant well. Well, he meant funny, at least.)

So it's possible!

I've been on Those Other Social Platforms for just long enough to be looking for a like button. Ahem.

So this is a great idea. I wish I could have dreamed my way through it fer shur.

Hee! I like it. Colorful! And hey, a cat, some iced coffee, some plastic fruit-shaped icy bits...what more could a body want on a humid, noisy, annoying day? (Oh wait. I thought of a few things...)

Jesus christ on a crutch. Somebody was having a MUCH worse day than you. (That's what I think of when I see something like that.)

I'm glad dinner was fun and that you weren't in the accident.

From: [identity profile] graymalkin13.livejournal.com
And certainly my bad day didn't even amount to "first world problems," maybe "1/4th world problems."

Oh dear. I should have labeled that "sarcastic dark humor." I didn't mean that you should compare your problems to those of the rest of the world all the time. (I know you tend to do that.)

When you have problems, they are valid, real problems and you are allowed to feel whatever you feel about them. It's your life we're talking about, not some theoretical construct.

"Somebody is having a worse day than me" is more of a "Jewish dark humor" thing I say to myself. It's not meant to trivialize anybody's problems, including mine.
