Are these notes contemporary from when you read these books?
I made notes when I finished the books, and edited/tweaked them when making this post.

Tell me more about he Walter Mosely. Did his PI grow up in a Socialist household? Are they "thrillers" or puzzle-stories or? Can they be read in any order? If so, do you recommend a starting point?
Leonid McGill's father was an American Communist revolutionary. I'd say the best description of the genre is "hard-boiled noir". I think they should be read in order, as follows:
1. The Long Fall (2009)
2. Known to Evil (2010)
3. When the Thrill Is Gone (2011)
4. All I Did Was Shoot My Man (2012)
5. And Sometimes I Wonder About You (2015)
