I'm saving [personal profile] mdlbear's post about gracefully retreating from LJ since they posted their weird new TOS. I haven't decided how many of these actions to implement.

One comment on another blog pointed out that, according to Russian law, a journal may be considered "adult content" for just mentioning the existence of gay people.

And by the new terms, not marking a journal "adult" when it's got "adult content" may be a violation of Russian law.

I was waffling on deleting before I saw that. Sigh.

I don't see how to mark my LJ as adult. Glad I've been over here for a while, but now looking up DW feeds, communities, etc., to do more transition.

I keep waiting for them to decide I'm obscene. I mean it's bound to happen sooner or later ... not just sex but OMG gay.

Nothing lasts forever. LJ was very good for a long time, with lots of sharp people doing interesting blogging, but it seemed to never recover from the advent of social media - my impression is a fairly substantial number of people who were regular bloggers put their energy instead into FB or Twitter. Heck, I switched over, too. I think it became something of a spiral after a while, with fewer people blogging meaning there was less reason to check every day.
