It must be said I loathed this movie, despite the quality of the acting. One fuck, and you suddenly see all the injustice in the world? Right. And that she was totally there because she was overwhelmed by the power of said fuck and the lurrve of a good man?

(Ok, sometimes relationships can catalyse something in you, but this movie didn't give me the sense of Hank growing away from his earlier views, or that Leticia was in there as an equal, as you've observed).
