At first I didn't like the edX interface as much as the Coursera interface, but now I think I like some parts of it better. One element that matters a lot to me is how easy it is to download the video subtitles and other supplementary material, because I use them for note-taking.

edX is a nonprofit collaboration between Harvard and MIT. Coursera is a for-profit company founded by some compsci profs from Stanford.

Coursera now offers a college credit option for some courses.
