Things I learned today

There are artists in Africa who make representational coffins. (Or you can have them make you a small-sized one that you can use as a chest or cabinet.) You can even buy them from a fair trade web site.

The Ga who are the original inhabitants of the area around Accra believe that you should be buried in a coffin that reflects how you earned your living.

Underneath the computer mouse chest, they assure us that they can make "any brand, any model or any other piece of IT equipment."

*squeeee!!!*

I'm not sure why, but I'm entranced. A smallish model would work quite nicely for ashes ...

The Tropenmuseum in Amsterdam has one like these (the airplane coffin), and I've also seen a cacao pod coffin (which was included in the "Chocolate" exhibition at the American Museum of Natural History in NYC).

They're as amazing as you'd expect when seen up close.
