Geographical proximity is part of it. There are a lot of Giants fans around here and I like that a lot of people get excited and wear baseball fan clothes and enjoy talking to strangers about it. (See my icon.)

I lived in Detroit in 1968 when the Tigers won the World Series. I was 7 years old. We got to take radios to school to listen to the games. I kind of imprinted on baseball and the Tigers as a result.
