Yarn

I've lived here five years and I've never been into the local yarn shop, Creative Hands, until today. [livejournal.com profile] pleonastic dropped by there before visiting a couple of weeks ago, and came away with something very pretty, so it has been on my mind. I went in today on the pretext of getting knitting needles to wind jump rings on. I got the knitting needles, but I also ended up getting seduced by this.

The woman who sold it to me claimed I could make a 1-skein scarf out of it. We shall see...

*heh*. so cool that i turned you on to visiting that store. isn't it ever so nifty? i had a hard time not coming back the next day with much more money. and i've since been to my local yarn store, which was also not too shabby (DJ has the haul and the latest craftiness).

that looks like eros. very nice!

oooOOOOoooo. I've often been beguiled by such things at the local yarn store, but have so far avoided temptation by sternly reminding myself that I Wouldn't Know What To Do With It If I Got It, And Look At That Price, I'll Stick With The Nice Safe Soft Wool Thank You. It's kind of become my yarn store mantra. ;)

OoooOoooooooOOOo! Pretty. Shiny. Oooo.

Big needles? What did she recommend?

Just as well we didn't go. Like I needed more to lug back home with me. (Yeah, those grapes were real sour.)

Do you still need needles from me?

oooh...shiny!

Too bad I never got a chance to drag you into Straw Into Gold (http://www.straw.com/) back when they had a retail store. Much yarny goodness. Back when I worked a couple of blocks away, I used to go in and (metaphorically) drool over the spinning wheels. Hmmm...maybe I should mount another search for those "make your own wheel" plans...

I saw some scarves made out of that kind of yarn in a garden store this morning -- so small that they looked more like belts than scarves, and priced at $59 each.
