kitty update

Selkie ate a can of food overnight (at the hospital). Bloodwork is the same as it was a year ago, except she has a low hematocrit (red blood cell percentage) and isn't producing new red blood cells. They don't know why; some unrelated disease is one possibility, cancer is another, or it could simply be a sign of aging. They want to keep her and give her an ultrasound to check for lymphoma. I miss her.

((more hugs)) Hopefully the ultrasound will be negative for lymphoma... I care for two elderly cats who get sub-q epogen due to not producing red blood cells (due to aging mostly.) Both of them are doing well, and have been for quite awhile. I hope she can come home soon.

I read that epogen is quite expensive. I'm glad that your cats are getting it and are doing well. I figured I'd have to give Selkie sub-q fluids eventually. [sigh] I hope that's all it is.
