THIS POST MIGHT GIVE YOU AN EARWORM

Had an entire family of ear 👂 worms 🐛 the other day — It started out with “Valley of the Dolls” because that was the final song of the last ep of Nurse Jackie, which I'd just finished watching. And went to “Another One Bites the Dust” and then “American Funeral” (I listened to those last night) and then “Dancing With Myself” (Buzzcocks)

What are your favorite/least favorite/most common/[pick your own criterion] earworms?

I get "The Safety Dance" a lot, or "It's Gonna Be Me" [aka "It's Gonna Be May"] or "Backstreet's Back [Everybody]" and then sometimes I get really WTF ones like trying to write porn and suddenly the David the Gnome theme song just randomly pops into my head.

I get Justin Timberlake’s “SexyBack” a lot…(wtf, id?) but at least I no longer get half-week-long “Blurred Lines” raves in there.

I’m pretty much always trying to write porn, so the corny ones are equal-opportunity :D

My most recent persistent ear worm is Jonathan Richman's "Here Come the Martian Martians."

I have Poison (by BelBivDevoe) in my head. I can understand how Another One Bites the Dust might stick.

I’m listening to it for the first time now. Insidious! I listened to Poison by Alice Cooper as an antidote. (Dangerous because that makes me think of “School’s Out” and that one tends to stick.)

There are many versions of You Shook Me and my earworm is usually of a particularly hammy Led Zep version

My most consistent earworm is the Bacchanale from Samson & Delilah by Camille Saint-Saens. It can drive out just about any other earworm. Fortunately, I like the Bacchanale! It's really about the last two minutes of this that gets stuck in my mind.

I'm somewhat immune, or at least usually not annoyed by them. But recently it's been one from a meme floating around:

I often wake up to Herman's Hermits "Something Tells Me I'm Into Something Good." I don't think of it as an earworm though - to me earworms are songs you don't want to hear again.

When I get an earworm that I want to end, I start singing the national anthem - either the US or French.

That’s such a cheerful song. I guess thats what it’s like to be a morning person! ;D

I get Mr. Blue Sky, House of Fun and the Addams Family song a lot as earworms I like.
I'm not going to mention earworms I don't like because they will stick in my head and drive me nuts if I think about them.
