I like its ambiguousness, a little golem with no gender. I wouldn't mind, both for visibility and for anti-racism-friendliness, if it were a different colour - even medium grey if people are worried about it clashing with their colour scheme. Or, if I'm wandering off into dreamland anyway, a scheme or user-set colour, but I'd still want the default to be mid-grey.
(It also puts the lie to the "neuter Facebook icon is neuter" bullsh!t. This is what a neuter icon looks like, and it's not even got a fraction of the pixels to play with.)
I think the website "Sociological Images" was having a discussion about this very topic the other day, how so many "neutral" icons are white, and in many cases, also depict men.
