Name a CD you own that you think no-one else on your friendslist does:

La Belle et la Bete, an opera by Philip Glass that's intended also to act as a soundtrack to Cocteau's film of the same name.

Name a book you own that you think no-one else on your friendslist does:

The Happy Valley by Eric Berne. Yes, THAT Eric Berne (who wrote I'm OK, You're OK). It's a very strange children's book.

Name a movie you own on DVD/VHS/whatever that you think no-one else on your friendslist does:

Ofelas (Pathfinder), a Norwegian film in the Saami language

Name a place that you have visited that you think no-one else on your friendslist has:

Grosse Pointe Yacht Club on Lakeshore Road in Grosse Pointe Shores, Michigan

Name a piece of technology or any sort of tool you own that you think no-one else on your friendslist has:

A working Mac Classic from the 1990-92 time frame

I'm sure I've been to the outside of the Yacht Club, though probably not inside.

Ditto. I think it's funny that you've gotten 3 hits on the Yacht Club!

So you're from that area of Michigan, too?

Lived in GPW until I was 16, would have been class of '74 at North if we hadn't moved. My house was at 1000 Vernier, not quite across from the golf course. Where were you?

[identity profile] karenkay.livejournal.com 2006-01-27 10:37 pm (UTC)(link)
In Grosse Pointe Park. We used to go to GPW to the Amvet Post there--my dad was involved in that. And he grew up in Grosse Pointe Shores.

Wow, that was SO long ago!!!

Oh! Oh! I've been to the Yacht club!

I dated a guy whose family were members once.

What do I win?

I liked it okay as a kid, but having been back there as an adult... I'd never want to live there again. I'm too used to having real civilization nearby. I think if I were to move back to MI now, I'd end up in Ann Arbor.

Ha! I own La Belle and La Bete. (I think I might also own the Cocteau film.)

Stumped me. :-)

Re: La Belle and La Bete - I don't have the CD, but I have a t-shirt, because I went to a live performance.

I had a 1990 Mac Classic until just a few years ago. But alas, it has gone to the great computer store in the sky.

I'm ignoring "neener, neener" to post this.

I had, and may still have Pathfinder.

We own an even older Mac which would work if it were put together, but it isn't. I think. (Jordin has the one that Susan got as a member of the design team, so yeah, really old Mac)
