unclear on the concept

I prefer to get paper bills for most of my services, and many of them would prefer me to switch to electronic billing.

Today's joke is my Dish Network bill.

On the face of the regular bill, there is a note about how if I switch to an electronic bill before a certain date, they will donate to the National Arbor Day Foundation.

Fair enough.

What I don't get is why they thought it was a good idea to include an extra sheet of paper in the envelope consisting entirely of an ad for the same offer, with little factoids about how good trees are for us, and a photo of a woman lying on the ground smiling next to the headline "breathe easier". How many trees died for this piece of paper to be sent to every one of their paper-bill customers?

*rolls eyes*

I also prefer to get paper bills. What I'd really not prefer is to have 2 to 6 extra pages of my bill devoted entirely to advertising. My gas and electric company are sensible--1 page each. But each and every one of my credit cards send me chapbook-sized "bills."

Yes, I like having physical bills that I can file, just in case. If there's extra pages of advertising, they either go in the mixed paper recycling or in the shred, depending on what info of mine they have on them.

I signed up for electronic bills with Citibank (three accounts) long ago. Every month, for each account, I get a piece of paper in the mail, in a paper envelope, letting me know my electronic bill has been emailed to me.

Oy.

I think this icon would appropriate as well.

Dish Network is now down to basic service. Saves useful amounts of dough. I haven't squeezed the fucking life out of the TV yet but I'm getting closer.

Hm. That came out nastier than I intended. It's late and I must be feeling particularly crabby about TV tonight. Off to bed for me! and hugs to you my dear.
