I am happy about my panix shell account. It's ASCII only, and it puts all the virus laden and phishing mail in a separate folder for me so I can quickly delete it.
jenk points out that today is the 35th anniversary of deleting "homosexuality" from the
DSM.

35 years since DSM III
I was sitting at the Mission District home of some lesbian friends being annoyed by the 2 gay men that were visiting, and saying behind the hostess' back that it was convenient to know a woman or two during holiday times of the year to get a good home cooked meal, feeling less than friendly toward that other gender, and then someone brought up the news of the DSM revision and this being an important day. Little did I know I'd come to know the DSM quite intimately in my work, that I'd inadvertently memorize some of the codes and that I'd even understand what they were talking about.
fortunately I've met so many gay men who were not as sexist or stupid as these were, so I've never felt the need to scoot men as a class out of my life and I love how righteous members of my extended family and friends and acquaintences and online friends and even strangers I run into at polling places are so matter of fact that gay marriage is a non-issue.
35 years! I'd been in California for 18 months by that time. Yikes, time is flying!
and yep, very cute kitty pic. emphasis on the MBC (maximum body contact).

Learning that today is the 35th anniversary of deleting homosexuality" from the DSM added to my happiness, just thinking about the possibility of a whole generation growing up without the thought they are mentally ill for their feelings and needs. Thank you for sharing.
