I feel a bit more ajar.

OH and I went to a matinee of Iron Monkey, which was made in 1993 by some of the same people who were involved in making Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon. OH thought it was a lot better than CTHD. I mostly thought it was different, more of a traditional martial arts flick, whereas CTHD's strength was in managing more or less successfully to be both a martial arts flick and a "chick flick."

Iron Monkey was preceded by a very long preview for Lord of the Rings. OH hates spoilers so he covered his eyes and turned off his hearing aid. I was glad to see glimpses of it so I could get over my snarky thoughts about the way various characters looked before I see the actual movie. (I only had two snarky thoughts, which means they are doing pretty well, so far.)

OH is having minor surgery tomorrow (not related to the cochlea). My folks got us food again, and I bought a lot of treats for the invalid and the caretaker at Trader Joe's.

Have I mentioned how much I love my pre birthday present? I love being able to leave 10 big applications open at once and have small apps open within a couple of seconds.

Please pass a good luck to OH on his surgery tomorrow. Hope he heals quickly. Seem to know a number of people getting minor surgery now, like my friend [livejournal.com profile] sebab who is getting her toe operated on tomorrow morning.

Your pre-birthday present sounds wonderful. Happy bday in advance! I would love to be able to do the same thing, but I think I'd need a *lot* more memory.=)

Good wishes on the surgery part for both you and OH (and I think the nifty food tidbits is a lovely idea...)

I sort of agree about the differences between the two movies, but I found IM a lot less tension-producing to watch, which made them different, but not in a 'better' sense, just 'better in different situations' sense. I'll be going with the fiance to see it again once he gets down here (I promised, not like it's a very painful promise... besides, we can go to the nice theatre with stadium seating and the armrests that go up, and cuddle...)

I haven't got a chance to see Iron Monkey yet, may this weekend as husband picked movie last weekend (From Hell, which actually was really good, IMHO. Surprised me.) I CTHD worked really well for me when it came out because it blended some interesting elements and did it well. I got my action fix, I got my romance plot fix, and I also got to see some GORGEOUS scenery....(I would give my left eye tooth to be able to to go that place in the mountains where the girl jumps from in the end.)
