Some 20 years or so ago, I bought abostick59 a "Goodbye Kitty" shirt. It features two of the main characters. One is pointing a little stylized gun at the other's right ear, and a stylized blob of blood is coming out of the second one's left ear. The type face is perfect.
I had to buy it like drugs. I had to give money to a blind drop and collect the t-shirt from a different third party, because Sanrio is so careful of its branding.
I love it. Sadly, it's stained and doesn't fit him any more, but knowing it's in the world is a delight.
Yes! I remember Alan wore the "Goodbye Kitty" shirt to a PolyWOD in the Park. I didn't even look at it for most of the meeting because I had yet to develop my HK fascination and so I had anything HK-ish in my internal "auto-ignore" filter. Then at some point I noticed it.
Frankly, I think that's why I started liking HK. So Sanrio really should be glad.
