A professor speaks about MOOCs

Via Coursera I am taking a massively open online course (MOOC) called "History of Rock"* with this professor, John Covach of the University of Rochester. In the scholarly journal Music Theory Online, he writes about the experience from his end.

To MOOC or Not To MOOC?

That was a really interesting discussion from John Covach, thank you for linking it. And it's also a bit of synchronicity!

Today, it seems, is the first day of a new British MOOC, called FutureLearn, coordinated by The Open University. It's still in beta, and there are only a few courses up there so far, but I'm interested in one by the Uni of Southampton called 'Web Science: How the web is changing the world."

I'm usually an inveterate lurker, but I remembered you mentioning MOOC a while back, and I came here to leave you the link..... and ended up reading your link to an article which is relevant to the course.

Anyway, here it is.
