Recommendations

I think I may be in need of a counselor / therapist. Any SF Bay Area people have recommendations? My requirements:

Does both relationship counseling and individual counseling
Not someone I know socially
Poly friendly
Fat positive

ETA: Peninsula preferred, San Francisco or South Bay OK
EATA: East Bay also OK if therapist works on weekends

What is the radii for your requirement.

I can send you Christy Calame's number. Definitely poly friendly, fat positive.

I know she will do individual counseling and think she does the relationship counseling.

She probably won't work then she is in East Bay

I obviously have no recommendations, but would like to offer you some *hugs*, just because :-)

I worked with Yvonne for most of the 8 years I was living in SF, first with [livejournal.com profile] gridlore, then in individual therapy; Doug and [livejournal.com profile] dafydd both came to additional sessions in my time with her, and were both present for my "graduation" session when we moved to SJ. She's also a licensed practitioner of Rosen Method bodywork, and drew from that in our therapy sessions.

If I could afford the weekly gas money atop the session fee, I'd be going back to her....

I don't know for sure about fat positive, but it's hard to imagine him negative or judgmental. He does both individual and relationship counseling and he's poly friendly. I've been to see him with Rick and later with [livejournal.com profile] rfrench. Warm-hearted, insightful man.

I don't have any leads to pass on -- just good luck/best wishes/hope for finding someone you're really happy with.

I have a recommendation, but he practices in Berkeley, outside your range.

Well...

...I was going to recommend [livejournal.com profile] cyan_blue until Inoticed that she's on your flist. You could do worse than asking her for a recommendation, I think.

I don't have a recommendation for a counselor, but I'm willing to listen and reflect with you. *hug*

I recommend Lisa Shields, who works in Los Altos and SF. I made a lot of progress with her. She meets at least three of your criteria, and if you don't know her socially, great! Her ph is (650) 941-5581. She has a minimalist website (http://lisashieldsphd.com/) too.

You may all ready know about the list of poly-friendly professionals, but just in case... http://www.polychromatic.com/pfp/

Good luck!

I obviously don't have a recommendation to make; I hope you find the help you need and that things work out well for you.

<hugs> offered.

PS: I haven't forgotten about the Pipi thing; I'll get around to it, but I've had far too much on my plate recently. Sorry about the delays.
