I'm probably the last person to have encountered this...

...but it's too funny not to post.

I remember the original story. Still makes me howl.

I have to admit that I'm glad I came home from lunch and read this there - otherwise, I would have been hard-pressed to explain my chortling to my coworkers.

Nope. I last read it two years ago at least, and still knew exactly what it was when I saw the "dogsinelk" filename.

That said, the re-enactment in pumpkin is new; I hadn't seen that before.

Same here. Read it way more than two years ago, and knew exactly what it was based on "dogs in elk." That was hilarious.

Pumpin re-enactment does nothing for me. Took a quick glance then back-buttoned away without going past the first couple of frames. Eh.

I never tire of reading the Dogs In Elk story. I laugh every time. The pumpkin photos are...well...just gravy.

Some things just don't lose their funny, no matter how many times you see (or hear) them. Bill Roper's "Dinner Party" filk is one of those things, and this is another.

Yep. Funniest thing I have ever read. So glad you are perpetuating it. :^) Not sure what I think about the pumpkins, though. I think my imagination does a better job.

I keep wondering why there were two partial elk carcasses in the yard?

We had a dog who got "primitive" in old age, and would take frozen roadkill home for snacks. There was no way you could take his squirrel-sicle away from him. I called him "carrion dog" when he started doing that.
