I keep wondering why there were two partial elk carcasses in the yard?

We had a dog who got "primitive" in old age, and would take frozen roadkill home for snacks. There was no way you could take his squirrel-sicle away from him. I called him "carrion dog" when he started doing that.

There's a link on the pumpkin art page that leads to an explanation. Apparently her New Guinea Singing Dog was "primitive" and wouldn't eat regular dog food, so she worked out with some local folks that they would help butcher any elk that were being killed during hunting season and give her the meat. So she got a phone call one morning that some elk were available, and she got in her truck to go get the meat, and the dogs got in the truck with her, and when she got out of the truck the dogs also got out and...
...then they delivered the carcasses to her house with the dogs inside because it wouldn't have been safe for the dogs to stay out where the elk had been killed.

Frozen roadkill snacks!
