Happy Anniversary
25 Jan 2026 04:44 pmIt’s the 10th anniversary of the first broadcast of Lucifer, which is one of my top 3 favorite TV shows.*
I FEEL SO OLD 😭
*The other two are Star Trek the original series and Babylon 5, just don’t ask me in what order.
What makes you feel old or young?
What are your favorite TV shows?

Date: 26 Jan 2026 07:46 am (UTC)Everything makes me feel old at this point. Everything I think of as 20 years back turns out to have been thirty or forty. Or more. I was talking with a friend on Dreamwidth about the climate changes in central Illinois. She pulled up some statistics from fifty years ago. I was about to say that that was before my time -- we moved away when I was 8 -- but it wasn't. It was AFTER.

Date: 26 Jan 2026 03:05 pm (UTC)My first "I feel old" was when I was in my mid-20s. I'd gone off to college, and not seen my youngest step-sister since I left. IIRC, she was about to start 7th grade the last time I saw her. Maybe 6th. Definitely pre-pubescent.
The next time I saw her was at her wedding. She'd probably grown a foot, and gone through puberty. It was a big shock to see her.

Date: 26 Jan 2026 10:48 pm (UTC)My "Top N" lists often rotate positions depending on context. Like, sometimes you need one kind of comfort watch, and sometimes you need another. (This is seen most easily, I think, in the "top ten things in life," where the top position might be a good book, a shower, or sex, depending on context.)
What makes me feel young? Remembering that my aunt is in her mid-nineties. I may be older now, but the previous generation is still around.

Date: 27 Jan 2026 07:25 am (UTC)Yes! And I remember how old the movie setting seemed to me the first time I watched it.
Monty Python is in my top [mumble] favorites too. Sometimes I forget about it because I’ve assimilated it so thoroughly 😹

Date: 27 Jan 2026 01:02 am (UTC)I feel young sometimes, but it's hard to explain. I guess I feel young when the choices I make to live in society still allow me to do the fun things I want to do.

Date: 27 Jan 2026 03:21 pm (UTC)I also really loved NUMB3RS because it was science fiction in the current day (much like how Lucifer was fantasy in the current day), and White Collar because of its glorious OT3 and comforting copaganda.
The other day I commented on a story and the author said "hi! I'm a fan! I used to read your stories in high school!" THAT MADE ME FEEL OLD..
