Have Fun! Scarf by Sally Melville, The Knitting Experience, Book 1: The Knit Stitch
I finished this in 2005 but I got it out for a photo today because [livejournal.com profile] auntysocial was talking about the book in question. I don't remember what needle size I used. I knit this from a bunch of different yarns I got at the Mendocino Wool & Fiber Festival in 2004. It’s knit sideways and self-fringing. I made the mistake of hanging it on a hanger, and it grew so now it’s over 10 feet long.

Notes
I wanted to make two socks at once on two circs, so I used the Boot Socks pattern from Knit Picks, which describes how to do that from the top down. But the yarn I used was fingering yarn (the Boot Socks pattern calls for worsted weight yarn). I used the book Sensational Knitted Socks to determine the number of stitches to cast on, and for the pattern I used a 4x4 rib. My calf/ankle are larger than my foot, so after I turned the heel, I decreased down to the next lower size.

This is the second pair of socks I’ve made using the “two at once” method. This time I found the method a lot easier to manage. There is a fair bit of fiddling involved after each row to prevent the two yarn balls from tangling, but this takes up less time than the fiddling I always have to do when I knit socks one at a time, because I lose count and they end up different sizes. I immediately cast on for another pair of two-at-once socks after finishing this pair.

I like the socks! And making two at once only makes sense; I always knit sleeves two at once, but they're flat.

I like the socks too. I suspect you've improved as a knitter over the last three years :-).

I just finished knitting two sleeves in the round (because I also wanted to make sure they were going to match) and it was actually much less tangly than I expected.

I like the colors in the scarf! I've crocheted scarves like that with leftover yarn (in harmonizing colors) and they self-fringe, too, although I usually do two rows of alternating knots just to make it look more finished.

I like the colours in the knitting, but I think the photos are awesome. I love the way you've used the background objects to pick out the colours of the projects.
