I decided to buy some early (released in the 70s) Scorpions CDs to replace the albums I foolishly sold in the 80s.

The Scorps are really popular on hard rock radio these days, but usually only their 80s stuff (e.g., "Rock You Like a Hurricane") gets played.

So I'm listening to music I haven't heard in at least 25 years. And it feels so familiar, like I listened to it only yesterday. A week ago I wouldn't have been able to sing a melody from any of these songs, but now, listening to it, I can anticipate the next several bars, so the memories are obviously in there.

Often listening to music I haven't heard in a long time brings back strong emotional memories about what was going on in my life when I was first listening to it a lot. This music doesn't bring back any memories like that. It only brings back really vivid memories of itself.

Sheesh, what other 25 year old memories do I have stored away in such good condition? What would it be like if I could access them all at will?
