firecat: red panda, winking (Default)
Back from vacation

Every part of my body is aching, but especially my jaw. And I have a crick in my neck.

There was a squirrel eating out of the compost heap this morning.

I am feeling guilty that I haven't been more politically active lately. Right now I am feeling like it's another kind of caretaking that I don't have energy for.

OH's micromanagement tendency is annoying after a weekend of being free to do whatever I wanted.

Here is what I wrote on Friday in the airport:

I just got to the gate. The security line took 45 minutes.

I set off the security alarm. It must have been my watch. They wanded me and patted me down. My shoelace grommets set off the wand.

They did not open any of my bags.

A woman in an army uniform was asking people to declare and surrender their tweezers and nail clippers.

I spent $50 to upgrade to first class so I would not have to deal w/ a middle seat. I really like that policy of Alaska's.

People were very patient in line. The line ran the whole length of the terminal and it was hard for people to get through. It is too bad that the terminal isn't designed to handle them.

My friend S's Kitty has cancer. Here is a poem I wrote for her:
For Kitty

They come on their own time, unlooked for,
asking only
for a bowl of food, a soft hand,
and a piece of your heart.

They go on their own time,
in their secret ways,
taking your heart with them
to heaven
