Roundup: We Die Like Fen
21 Aug 2021 10:38 pmThis year is the first I've participated in We Die Like Fen, an exchange that has a reputation for being...chaotic? I think this is the fifth time it has run.
This year there were almost 650 works posted. I thought the works were quite high quality overall.
The way it worked this year was that there were four rounds of signing up and posting, each with different requirements. The first round had a 500 word minimum (or equivalent), and the fourth round had a minimum of four works of 500 words each. Signups had different requirements for each round, too.
The exchange culture encouraged signing up with wacky, iddy freeform tags and specifying "Any Fandom", "Any fandom I've ever requested," and similar for the fandoms. I really like this (although going through all the tags took FOREVER).
I wasn't able to participate in all the rounds because of my meat suit containment failure, but I participated in the last two rounds and wrote almost 9K words in all.
