A few years ago, I hung a bird feeder near the dining room window. The bird seed attracted rats, so I stopped putting bird seed in it, but a couple of years ago, some birds built a nest in it. They abandoned the nest because they kept getting startled by people walking by inside the house.

This year, another pair of birds (CLBBs™) took over the nest and they are sticking with it so far. The female sits in the nest except when folks walk by.

Our cat Biscuit has discovered the nest, and now she spends all her spare time sitting on the dining room table looking at it.

Of course I know what she really wants is to catch the bird, torture it, and eat it. But it looks like she is being its guardian angel.

Between that photo and this one, the OH walked through the dining room, and the bird flew away. Biscuit misses her.

CLBBs are a type of sparrow, IIRC.

Cute pix.

Oh yes... my bedroom window is one giant CatTV set for our adorable bits of fluff. ;)

[livejournal.com profile] firecat - we have similar CLBBs (I thought the C stood for Cute, and I like it, so I'm keeping it, haha!) attempting to nest in either the rhodedendron bush out back, or in the gutter/eaves of the back porch. That area gets constant traffic, though, of people and of cars; I'm very surprised that they're still trying to nest there. This must be a tough neighborhood to nest in. :/ Amber has discovered the nest, and sometimes she'll amuse herself by sitting on the back porch railing or windowsill and staring intently at the birds, who ignore her. The only way she could get ahold of one of them would be if she jumped off the railing and took the five foot dive to the ground. She knows it, the birds know it... so the birds ignore her, and she waaaaatches them. :]

Ah, there is "my" perfect Bici cat on LJ! Now I have to remember to bring my field guide over so I can ID those little birdies.
