If you have already exhausted the whole http://lileks.com site and still want to make fun of hideous fashions of the past, check this out.

Excerpt:
Once upon a time the world was young and the words "mackerel" and "pudding" existed far, far away from one another.

Those cards spurred the following thread in my journal a while ago. (http://www.livejournal.com/users/rmjwell/144345.html)

I made a big order at Archie McPhee before Christmas, and one of several "free gifts" was a package of "party food" recipe cards appearing to date from the '70s, with that same scary color photography and dishes with names not unlike Fluffy Mackerel Pudding.

I keep trying to think of someone who'd be the perfect recipient for this (ahem) gift ...

I just may find some of my own in my mom's house

I'm doing major de-stashing. But I have to do it under her nose. Unfortunately, she's a lot easier to fool than before.

But I have found recipe cards. And magazines from the 80's. I think the
70's mags are just a bit deeper. The best find was a Look magazine from
April '68 with a giant head shot of Robert Kennedy on the cover. Too bad it is in bad shape. It might have been worth something.
