Your birds are Brown Pelicans, almost wiped out by DDT, making such a healthy comeback that they're almost overpopulated in some areas (still rare in others).

They love the fish that get caught in shallows in Tomales Bay when the tide's low. (Normally they're diving birds, but will just swim or stand around at low tide.)

Inverness is one of my favorite places in the world.

Oh, and yes, raccoon for sure. They're the only ones with the front paws that look like a human hand.

actually, oppossums have that hand too. but their hind paws leave a track with a really obvious opposable thumb that sticks out way to the side. so i concur that it's a racoon track.

and yeah, brown pelicans. such a great comeback story.

beautiful place, stef!

I guess it does look hand-like, but I hadn't seen it as one before. For some reason, raccoon tracks remind me much more of a hand, even with the less obvious thumb.

(Opossums are non-native here, but common.)

I'm especially taken with the white-painted kitchen, but the whole thing looks just grand.

That looks like a wonderfully relaxing, calming place. I might need to fly across country!

BTW, this is Dreama from Big Fat Blog. I've just added you, if that's okay. I've always appreciated your perspectives quite a lot.
