Neil Gaiman's Fragile Things
28 Jan 2007 11:45 amI finished listening to Neil Gaiman's Fragile Things, a collection of short stories, novellas, and poems, on audio. Gaiman narrates it himself. He's always been a good reader but his skill has improved. Now he is among the best readers I've listened to. (Yet another thing to envy him for. :-)
I didn't like everything in the collection - some of his stuff is too slight or too self-referential for my taste. But I liked several of the stories quite a lot.
If I ran the world, books containing scenes in which dogs or cats are tortured/killed would come with a mandatory warning sticker. If you don't like stories with such scenes in them, don't read Gaiman's story "Feeders and Eaters".

Date: 11 Feb 2007 04:44 am (UTC)I wandered over from the "ample knitter's" yahoo group and decided to read a bit.
The name "Neil Gaiman" seemed familiar and i couldn't quite place why? I googled his works to see if it refreshed the aging memory. Aha! I've read one of his books. "American Gods". I liked it quite a bit. It was one of the monthly reads for our "Well Read Witch" book club back home in Indiana. Maybe i'll branch out and read some of his other works.
Glad i clicked over to see closeups of your sweater. I really like the yarn colors that you chose. Way to go! I've yet to make any adult sized garments, but have the yarn for a vest that my partner has requested. I'll cast on soon!
Happy knitting!
