....which wikipedia sez is Kryder's Law: "magnetic disk area storage density is increasing very quickly, at a pace much faster than the doubling in semiconductor chip performance occurring every 18 months in Moore's Law."

Actually it's the corrolary of the corrolary because we're talking flash storage, not magnetic disk storage. Anyway.
I went to buy a micro-SD card at Walgreens to put in my new Necono cat camera.
The micro-SD cards, SD cards, and thumb drives were in the section next to the batteries. All of the storage cards were on hangers that had plastic locks on them. The cards I wanted were in the range of $10-$20. None of the battery hangers had locks on them, although they were in the range of $5-$30.
I asked a cashier if she would unlock the card for me. She said she would get someone to help, and she paged for "someone to the camera department with a key." Another cashier came over and I showed him what I wanted. He went behind the counter and came out with a scissors, which he used to cut the package off the hanger. I was like WELL OK THEN. I COULD HAVE DONE THAT MYSELF.

Date: 30 Sep 2013 10:08 pm (UTC)That camera is amazing! I want to install one in my hat, or eyeglasses, or something slightly stealthy without being a creeper.
Looking forward to the cat's eye view.

Date: 1 Oct 2013 12:31 am (UTC)But hey, that camera is adorable. I want one! I don't need one and would never use it, but I want one, just the same.
On another note, this week 13 years ago I started working for Mark Kryder. I filled in while his regular admin had extensive back surgery. He's a really interesting, outrageously brilliant, exceptionally kind man. I really liked him. Very Steve Jobs-ish, but with a (slightly) more varied wardrobe.
