Sat down to watch Truly Madly Deeply with my OH. First time either of us has seen it. I was getting really into it, not just because I'm a slobbering Rickman fan (tho' I admit to that), but because it was seeming like a really interesting, intense movie. In fact I was getting into an emotional state I haven't felt in months and months and I've rather missed.

Uh oh -- OH isn't getting into it. Finally about 45 minutes into the movie he stops it and says he can't watch any more. I ask if he minds if I continue watching it on my own. He says I can if I want but he'd rather I didn't. I decide that since I'm going out of town tomorrow and we won't see each other for almost two weeks, I should spend time with OH instead of finishing the movie. But arrgghhh! it was really uncomfortable to thump unceremoniously out of that emotional state.

The latest installment of Sluggy comics (http://www.sluggy.com) has me lusting after Snape all over again. Snapey Snapekin! ;)

I confess I avoided Truly Madly Deeply for years for the shallow reason that I thought AR looked kind of dorky with a mustache. I still think so, but the movie (what I saw so far) is reeeeaally good.

At first I thought that said "Snapey SnakeSkin" and I was imagining Snape in snakeskin cowboy boots. ;-)

I wonder if Mr. Alan Rickman has any clue how many people want to do wonderfully speakable things to his body. To in my household would fight over him if he walked in. I really liked him in Dogma.
(jackhammer in front yard is at it again.)

He seems to have a very impressive mind as well, from what I can gather.

He didn't give much detail, but he didn't have to. It's just a kind of movie he doesn't like, and fortunately I figured that out before he decided to stop watching, so it wasn't a complete surprise. (I could describe the kind of movie he doesn't like, but that might involve spoilers.)

Heh. Written and directed by Anthony Minghella! I know this movie. ;-)

But what I actually asked was not why he didn't want to keep watching, but why he didn't want YOU to keep watching.

Oh, duh.

'Cos I was going away the next day, and then the day after I get back he's going away for a few days, so it would be a while before we saw each other again. We historically haven't done a lot of traveling away from each other.
