attempt at an old 5_word_poetry entry

Back at the end of October, the following word set appeared in 5_word_poetry. I'm finally getting around to using this set to write a poem.



Word set: jab(n), suitor, revenge(n), clear(adj), banish

A jab in the finger.
The lancet slips in, a subtle but insistent suitor.
A squeeze,
and the red stuff wells out,
life liquid banished
from its fleshy container.

The test strip soaks it up. Conduction.

Under clear plastic, liquid
crystals untwist,
disturbed again in their rest,
thwarting reflection: their electrochemical revenge.
