The ultrasound they did on Selkie today showed cancer in the pancreas
and lymph nodes. There is no treatment for this, and it progresses
quickly.

For the next couple of days she will be home and on steroid medicine to help
her feel more comfortable.

The vet will be making a house call on Wednesday to put her to sleep.

Thanks for your good wishes for her and us.

oh stef...I'll ad my regrets to the others here, I was really hoping for better news. It's a hard hard decision to make. We lost Silver a couple years ago very suddenly, and I'd had him for 14 years, I was nearly paralyzed for days with the grief. I'm glad you at least have a couple of days to say your goodbyes and cherish Selkie's company for a bit longer.

I held a memorial for Silver when he passed, made some little paper boats and waxed them and put tealights in them and floated them on a nearby river...people thought it was nuts when they inquired but who gives a damn what they think, it helped me find a little peace.

Give Selkie a pat for me and tell her I wish I could have met her, she must be a special lady to be so loved by you. I hope she has a peaceful journey into the next world, and that she knows she is cherished in this one.
