the uses and misuses of therapy

There's some really interesting discussion in this (very long) post and the comments about the uses and misuses of therapy and the language/culture of therapy and self-improvement, the interactions of different styles of communication, ways that group process works and doesn't work, abuse and reactions to abuse, power play in conversations about feelings, and so forth. I'm not articulate enough right now to express specific reactions (there are some things I agree with and some things I don't) but it's giving me a bunch of stuff to think about.
