Embrace the power of "and".

(I know that these Writers Block questions are supposed to stimulate writing, but so many of them are yes/no or "this/that" questions or I'm tempted to start challenging myself to answer them in as few characters as possible. If this one were part of the challenge, my answer would have been "and".)

Not "yes"?

Actually, the way it's phrased, "yes" only makes one statement. Both parts of the "or", in the first sentence, are logically the same, and therefore, the first sentence is a "yes/no" question, as it simply states its question in two forms.

The second sentence introduces two new concepts, neither of which is closely linked to the first sentence, and both of which are logically independent.

yeah, they don't stimulate my writing, that's for sure -- and you know how easily i jump into the sea of verbosity. somebody needs to teach those people how to write questions in a way that begs for a thoughtful and detailed answer.
