This. *This*. THIIIIS...

...might explain why one of my reactions to the coronavirus crisis has been elation. [Fuck. There's so much suffering. I'm ashamed to admit it.]

It's not as if I'm even taking advantage of that many of the newly online opportunities. But I feel like I have the option. I feel like the rest of you humans opened a door I can walk through, a door I used to have to laboriously pick the lock of. Maybe you didn't open it *for* me, but it's open now, and that changes something in my core.

That makes total sense to me.

It makes sense to me too, and it sucks that the world has heretofore been so inaccessible.

If work lets me, I am going to be applying for funding to do a Big Research on this. I'm both glad and nervous that others are talking about it, though my thesis is a bit deviated from this topic. This is just part of it.

This was one of my first thoughts for Quaker Meeting - that people who couldn't make the drive would be able to participate more.

That makes complete sense to me!

There is no need to be ashamed that something has made your life better. It's not like you're saying you're glad people are dead. You're saying that there are accessibility problems that are being addressed for you.

If it makes you feel any better one way or another, that people who need it are getting their needs addressed makes me feel better about all this crap. I'm glad.

No, I hear you. I've been confined to my house for a very long period of time before for medical reasons. This is like that except that instead of the world going on without me, everyone is confined.

I've been feeling this too -- not quite the same flavour, but I've definitely been noticing that I'm getting more social than normal.

Honestly, I've mostly been bitter as hell about the fact that once the abled needed accommodations, they were instituted at light speed.

This totally makes sense. Also, it shows WE COULD HAVE DONE THIS ALREADY BUT WE DIDN'T, sigh.

I have been boosting this idea since before I was sent home from work in mid-March; it's a great reason to be elated.

YES! YES!

I'm glad there are some positives in this mess! Embrace any we can find.

I can only hope that afterward, everyone realizes having the door open is much better for everyone, instead of rushing to slam it shut as quickly as they can.

Right. And someone will suggest it as a cost-saving measure, because it's cheaper to close the door than to invite everyone in and put up the expense of making sure everyone can enjoy the space.
