I'm posting this more because it's about fanfic than because it's about Hamilton (I like some of the music in Hamilton but I'm not interested in the show), but I think it has some very good points.

I really liked this one too (same author) about how the text can be seen to deconstruct itself: https://www.vox.com/culture/21305967/hamilton-debate-controversy-historical-accuracy-explained It goes along with her point in the other essay about how Hamilton is talking back to the "canon" (actual historical events, biographies) and transforming it (and A.Ham is an LMM self-insert -- I love that).
