TFW (Lucifer season 5)

I usually love feeling fannish. But it's weird getting super invested and super opinionated about characters in a story, such that when I watch new episodes, I sit there screaming "NO!" at the screen like it’s a sportsball game and my team just did something really stupid with the macguffin.

I completely understand. I've been shouting and weeping in equal measures the last two days over the same thing.

The long wait did not help and 2020 is not normal. What else are we going to be invested in?

Haha, that is still me and Endgame, even after I know how it ends. NO! DON'T KILL THEM!

I think the stakes are heightened fannishly by everything in the outside world being on fire and shitty right now, so there's even more pressure that the things we turn to for escapism and enjoyment make us happy (or that's true for me, anyway -- and I think one reason why I've been rereadng and rewatching closed canon I love all year).

I wasn't all that invested in MCU when Endgame rolled around (since for me the Avengers are mostly a bunch of characters for Loki to interact with, and, well), but yeah, I was and am still furious about that.

And you're right about escapism mattering more right now.

Oh man, the OPENING of Infinity War. Rarely have I hated a movie so immediately and so thoroughly! But that one did it.

I have been called a person of intense reactions (LOL) and yet I don't think I have ever gone from "braced for impact" to "I FUCKING LOATHE THIS PIECE OF -- " faster than that. Uh, good job, Russos!

It's still a lovely sentiment, even if Tolkien didn't say exactly that.

And my reaction was something between "of course they did" and "It's Loki, he'll be back." So I mostly hated it in retrospect.
