Dear Holly Poly Writer
27 Oct 2020 08:32 pmThank you for writing for me! My Ao3 name is
firecat
My number one want: I hope you write something you enjoy, and have fun.
I've included some prompts and likes in case you want something to start from, but it's fine with me if you want to go in a different direction.
banter, competence, crossovers (with requested fandoms or any fandom I've written for on my AO3 account), developing/shifting relationships (enemies-to-friends-to-lovers; fear-to-respect/liking/trust; competitiveness-to-cooperation; tribe/found family formation), dominance/power/toughness combined with tenderness (in either direction—moments of tenderness from tough characters, moments of toughness from gentle characters), flirting, interstitial moments, loyalty, magic use, multiple POVs of same situation, non-mainstream characters and points of view (e.g., queer, gender-variant, ace/aro), non-mainstream relationships (e.g., polyamory, D/s), pining, shapeshifting / transformation; unresolved sexual tension, use of powers
Smut likes:
banter/silliness/laughter during sex; bloodplay/knifeplay; bestiality; body hair/fur; body size diversity; body worship; bondage/restraint; dom/sub (formal or informal); domming from the bottom; enthusiastic consent; dirty talk; fighting during sex; first times; games & competitions; gang bangs; hate sex; healing sex; human–alien or alien–alien sex; impact play; masochism/sadism; negotiation, negotiation failure; noncon/dubcon (someone needs to be getting sexual pleasure out of it); on public display for free use; oral fixation; orgasm delay; penetration; porn without plot; porn with slight plot; power dynamics; powered/godlike/supernatural sexual abilities; public sex; sex as part of ritual; sexwork; stranger sex; switching; teasing; tentacles; threesomes and moresomes; wrestling
Opt-ins: (I am neutral to positive about these; I'm not specifically asking for them, but I will not mind if you use them)
a/b/o; alternate genitalia; first and second person POV; graphic depictions of violence; incest; major character injury (but not permanent maiming, unless it's canon); pandemic scenarios (but not covid-19)
DNWs: (In some cases these are overridden for specific fandoms; if the DNWs for the fandom don't match these, the DNWs for the fandom take precedence)
body/appearance negativity; children (15 and under); harm to nonsentient animals depicted (OK to mention); homophobia; hopeless endings; incompatible sexual orientations as major plot element; permanent death of named/requested chars (unless canonical); proposals/weddings/marriage as major plot element; racism; relationship infidelity as major plot element (for poly ships, this means breaking whatever agreements the poly partners have); slavery (D/s ownership using different terms OK); soulmates as major plot element
Smut DNWs
cannibalism, emetophilia, feeding/stuffing, necrophilia, scat, vore, watersports, the words "slut" and "whore" applied to characters with vaginas by characters without vaginas
In season 1, I love the dynamics between Kovacs in Ryker's sleeve and his clone. And the dynamics between Ortega and Kovacs (who is wearing the sleeve of Ryker, Ortega's boyfriend, through most of the season). I love the idea of interaction between Ryker, Ortega, and Kovacs wearing a different sleeve, or wearing a sleeve that's a clone of Ryker's.
In season 2, I love the dynamics between Anthony Mackie's Kovacs and Evergreen, the younger, loyal-to-the-Protectorate version of him that CTAC brought in to fight the Quellists (and Kovacs in particular).
There's always going to be at least a little angst where Loki is involved. I'm fine with low, medium, or high angst levels, but would prefer the ending to be on an up note.

General likes / opt-ins / DNWs

Specific fandoms
Altered Carbon
I love Poe's loyalty and yearning and caretaking urges, especially how they affect Kovacs's view of himself as a loner (a mistaken view, IMO). I like to think about the contrast between a sentient entity that has always existed as an AI and humans, who are also partly corporeal. How would their worldviews differ? How would their senses of identity differ? In season 1, I love the dynamics between Kovacs in Ryker's sleeve and his clone. And the dynamics between Ortega and Kovacs (who is wearing the sleeve of Ryker, Ortega's boyfriend, through most of the season). Babylon 5
General: If you're doing multi-species smut, I'd be especially interested in exploration of how the species differences affect things. (The Centauri have six, but what do we know about Minbari sexual proclivities/customs? Or Narn?)- G'Kar/Londo/Timov
- Opt-in/exception to my general DNW "relationship infidelity as major plot element". (Not specifically asking for it, but not objecting.)
I saw this grouping and I was immediately dying of curiosity how it could happen. I see Timov as having once been in love with Londo, and then not, but still retaining some nostalgia for those times. We know how Londo feels about Narns; what does Timov feel? Does G'Kar re-kindle those old feelings between them?
- Delenn/Marcus/Neroon
- I love the energy between each pair in this grouping. There are so many strong feelings flying around—at varying times suspicion, fear, determination, loyalty, love, worship. So I want to know what happens with those feelings when all three of them are together.
- Delenn/Lennier/Neroon
- What insights into Minbari culture would we get if we got to peek into an intimate scene among these three? Delenn and Neroon are leaders and Lennier is lower-ranking; how does that affect the relationship among them?
- Lennier/Na'Toth/Vir
- In "The Fall of Night," Lennier and Vir have a conversation:
"And now with the military starting to stampede over everyone and everything--"
Well, likely Na'Toth feels the same! So maybe this grouping starts out as a meeting (formal or informal, one-time or regular) that turns to venting about their ambassadors, and then more feelings develop? Or maybe they meet up to try to plan something, and...?
"People coming and going, secret meetings--"
"You never know what it's all about until later, when it's too late."
"And they never listen to us."
"Makes me nervous."
Marvel Cinematic Universe
- DNW: Death, permanent or temporary, of any named character except Hela.
- DNW: sex between characters under 18 and characters over 20
- Opt-in/exception to my general DNW "children under 15" if you're writing about Asgardians in their younger years. (I mean the equivalent to humans under 15; I don't know exactly how fast Asgardians age)
There's always going to be at least a little angst where Loki is involved. I'm fine with low, medium, or high angst levels, but would prefer the ending to be on an up note.
- Maybe Thor & Loki like to share, when they're not at each other's throats?
- What did the Asgardians get up to in their younger years?
- What's behind the weird energy between Sif and Thor/Loki that we see glimpses of in the Thor movies?
- The movies show us how Loki and Valkyrie might connect, but if they're with Heimdall, how does that happen?
- What would Thor make of Loki and Stephen Strange and their rivalry around magic?
