An old favorite and a new favorite

It’s been a long time since I posted a song!

I was recently introduced (you know who you are) to the phenomenon that is Bangtan Boys (BTS). Tonight I was looking up Jukebox-nominated songs on YouTube and I was recommended this (its not a Jukebox nomination, it’s just that YouTube’s recommendation algorithm has plumbed the depths of my heart — it’s very scary).

Maybe this just goes to show how cheesy I am, but I love this song to pieces and they do a really good job with it. I love their glittery mics awkwardly paired with their tweedy English outfits, and their occasional mispronunciations, and their swaying…

I don’t think I’m going to argue this one is almost better than sex. It’s almost better than hygge, how’s that?

I like that there's a version of this cover on YouTube with "color coded lyrics" so we can see who's singing each line. It gives me a good sense for the different qualities of their voices. Jungkook sings "Light will guide you home" so beautifully (and V provides a great contrast on the same line at the end.) The duet verses blend really well.

Color coded lyrics are essential! It's a certain kind of feeling when you use them and realize that the lyric is in English! Or a kind of English.

I have listened to it a couple of times this morning. You've got me hooked!
