I recently wrote a fic based on the fairy tale Vasilisa the Beautiful, and today finds me undertaking the impossible task of sorting two different kinds of pills that got mixed up in my pill containers. I am helped, not by a magical doll, but by a pill identifier web site, a cell phone camera, and a set of tweezers.

I once had an ADD med that was bright orange and black, at least it didn't look like any of the other pills!

Yes, they were smart making that one so distinctive!

Most of my pills look a lot alike, but the real problem is that I end up with different-looking pills from different generic manufacturers for the same drug, because the pharmacy keeps switching which manufacturers they’re using. So I can’t look at two different pills and know they’re for different drugs. Occasionally I go “oh these are for the same drug” and combine them in one bottle.

Ohh yeah, I dread those "THIS IS THE SAME MEDICINE YOU HAVE BEEN TAKING, IT MAY LOOK DIFFERENT" notes on the labels. Taking generic drugs is bad enough without weird switcheroos.

I’ve never gotten that notice. At least the bottle has the name of the med on it.

LOL, I have to do that several times a day because of a curse my genetics gave me.

Mostly I’m just annoyed that my blood doesn’t do anything magical. I give it to the device and it doesn’t turn into a magic carpet or flying pestle, it just yells at me that I need to improve the quality of the blood.

Ugh, you don't even get any of the possible benefits? Someone's running a real racket there. But what can you do when you have to make sure that your body isn't succeeding at killing you from the inside?

I would demand a refund but I can’t find the company’s customer service number and packing up the product for return is such a hassle.

Ugh. Such a trendy thing these days to not give any means of support that guarantees you get to talk to a knowledgeable human. And the packaging and the wrangling because you know they'll claim it's not a warranty repair…
