Since they don't put caffeine in surgery IV drips, and I'm addicted to caffeine, and I can't have anything to eat/drink after midnight, I drank coffee at 11:30 pm, so now I'm up posting instead of being in bed. (I figure I'll be sleeping all day tomorrow, anyway.) So here are some pictures of our new cat, Biscuit.

She likes to get up on the laundry hamper when it's sunny and/or when she wants attention.












Why do those humans like to pour water all over themselves, anyway? Maybe if I sit and contemplate this tub, I'll understand.

boy loves dark calicos and torties. is yours a mix?

She's definitely a calico/tortie, but she also seems to have some Siamese type genetics (blue eyes, a hint of "points" here and there).

"Julia" on this page is a nice dark tortie.

Oohhhh, purty.

explodingcat just explained to me that torties are black with random colors and calicos are calicos with random colors. I thought torties were dark cats with tortoiseshell spots and blue eyes, since that's what the first tortie i ever knew looked like.

so... what's a tabby? is that the ginger stripey cat look?

I think it's different in the UK and US, but I think of torties as having lots of little splotches of black, brown, and orange; and I think of calicos as having large splotches of white, brown, and orange.

Torties and calicos are almost always female because the color genes involved are expressed on X chromosomes, and two different X chromosomes are being expressed.

Blue eyes usually mean Siamese type color genetics.

A tabby is a cat with stripes all over.
