This shark, called a Japanese Goblin Shark, has a pop-out mouth inside its mouth. This video shows how it works. (Japanese language soundtrack.)

At Peninsula Humane Society we have far more cats than we've ever had in December and we're seeking foster parents or families willing to take a cat into their home for at least three weeks this holiday season. It's our "Twenty One Days of Christmas" program. PHS/SPCA is providing all the food and kitty litter for interested foster parents. We've set two orientation dates at the shelter where you can meet our staff, learn about the resources we're providing, and have a chance to select your foster cat. The dates are Tues., Dec. 9, 6:30 to 7:30 pm and Sat., Dec. 13, 2-3 pm. Please reserve a spot in one of the orientations by contacting Brian Probst today at 650/340-7022, ext. 328 or bprobst@PHS-SPCA.org. Foster providers can adopt their kitty at any time, but that is not mandatory for this program. The program is like a "try-out." People have a unique opportunity to see what living with a cat is like before they make a long-term commitment, and if they choose not to adopt, they've still provided something wonderful for a shelter cat." Contact us today if you think can provide one of these homes and would like to learn more during one of our brief orientations. And, please forward this vital message to other animal lovers in your life.
