I was reading something I picked up at Wiscon '03: "James Tiptree, Jr. Award Cumulative Lists: Winners, Shortlists and Longlists." I was writing down the winners in my reading recommendations file.
Turns out my story "Tiresias," which was published in Genderflex (Circlet Press) under the name Firecat, made the 1996 Tiptree "Longlist" (which included 41 entries, including Elizabeth Moon's Remnant Population, Kim Stanley Robinson's Blue Mars, and Lori Selke's "A Boy's Night Out," also in Genderflex.)
There's a comment by Janet Lafler: "A very sexy story which, incidentally, illustrates the distinction between gender change and sex change."
I am really chuffed by this. I saw two other reviews of the story, back when it was published, and they were somewhat negative.
Well, that oughta provide me with a shot in the arm for these last 7K words of my nanowrimono...
