Wiscon. Nanowrimo.
Did you keep your new years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
I didn't make any. Insofar as I have an ongoing multi-year commitment to do more creative stuff, I maintained my commitment, and I plan to do so for next year too.
Did anyone close to you give birth?
No, but someone is working on it.
Did anyone close to you die?
My beloved feline companion Selkie and our hospice cat Isis.
What countries did you visit?
None
What would you like to have in 2004 that you lacked in 2003?
More creative energy and motivation. Better health.
What date from 2003 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
Specific dates generally don't get etched. At the end of May I went to Wiscon for the first time. And in October I had some minor surgery that is turning out to improve my health a lot.
What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Nanowrimo.
What was your biggest failure?
Nothing is coming to mind. I don't dwell on failures, and I don't tend to have big failures, mostly just ongoing mediocrity and not-fulfilling-my-potentialness.
Did you suffer illness or injury?
Yes, both.
What was the best thing you bought?
Nothing is coming to mind. I was mostly trying to get rid of stuff rather than accumulate more stuff. Some of the best things I acquired were beading magazines that![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-userinfo.gif)

Whose behavior merited celebration?
The OH was very very caring toward me when I was going through unpleasant health stuff this summer and fall.

No one in specific. The US government, and governments and corporations in general.
Where did most of your money go?
Food, mortgage, car.
What did you get really, really, really excited about?
Deleting two "really"s because I just don't get that excited: Crocheting, beading, writing, Wiscon, my new sweetie
What song will always remind you of 2003?
Pink, "Get the Party Started"...but my own Mondegreen version, which goes:
"I'm comin' up, so I better get this body started"

No. I don't really have the energy to hate anyone.
What was the best book you read?
I learned a lot from Jared Diamond, Guns, Germs and Steel. I really enjoyed Return of the Native, Thomas Hardy (audio book read by Alan Rickman).
What was your greatest musical discovery?
I started digitizing my vinyl LP collection, so I would say it was re-discovery rather than discovery. I can't really choose a favorite. Eno, Jean Redpath, old Pink Floyd...
What did you want and get?
A lot of energy and motivation back, toward the end of the year.
What did you want and not get?
No more periods, ever.
What was your favorite film of this year?
It didn't come out this year, but The Animatrix, judging by how many times I've rewatched it since getting it (5 times in a few months). I was also moved by Fearless and The Last Samurai.
What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
Nothing special. I turned 42.
What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
No fucking war.
How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2003?
"What's comfortable and on top of the clean clothes pile?" and "Tank tops from Torrid".
What kept you sane?
My loved ones. My psychiatric drugs. Volunteering at the animal shelter.
Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
Andy Scott
What political issue stirred you the most?
The destruction of individual rights in the name of "preventing terrorism."
Who did you miss?
Selkie (my cat)
Who was the best new person you met?
I didn't meet a lot of new people this year, and I wouldn't want to choose a "best" at any rate.

Putting "rebecca's mask" into Google yields some theories about what the band sounds like. I find it very hard to describe the way music sounds.
