Tea bag folding

I got onto this via the "Coffee & Tea" issue of Exploratorium's excellent members' magazine.

Very pretty. Why is it called "tea bag folding"?

Apparently the craft started in Holland where tea bags come in pretty floral packages. Each piece of paper is about 4-5cm.

If you google for "tea bag folding," you can find places that sell special paper for it (you use a 4-5cm square with an image or pattern printed on it; they're sold in larger sheets with repeats of the pattern and you cut them out) or places that let you download suitable image files and print your own.

I looked at the two necklaces on the Debra Chambers home page and I thought "I could make those, but I would have a terrible time charging that much money for them." It's not that I think she is overcharging, especially given the fine materials she is using. But I hesitate to use nice materials in my jewelry because of my attitude. (I sort of think this is a problem, but I'm not sure how to go about fixing it.)

Art pricing

When you think "I would have a terrible time charging that much money for them" what sort of terrible time do you envision? Please be as specific as possible.

What would have to change for you to use nicer materials for your jewelery?

Often times examining a block in more detail, the way you feel when you think of it, the exact character of the consequences you fear, will help you to figure out a way through the block.

Also, thinking about what would be better if you could do things differently is also helpful.
