"Mental Muscles of Steel" from Popular Science (via [livejournal.com profile] piranha_gooroos) ... I didn't read the whole article, but the second page has a kinda fun quiz. I got two wrong (should have only got one wrong, made a stupid mistake on one of them).

bah!

. Which is true of all life on Earth?

A: It either takes in or emits oxygen
B: It watches reality TV shows
C: It consists of one or more cells
D: Its cells have distinct nuclei
E: It consists a molecule or hierarchical complex of molecules that reproduce themselves, or more generally, consists of any information pattern that evolves or reproduces.

The answer is D. He would speed up as he approached Earth's center, and slow down going away from it, forever oscillating between the two ends of the hole.

Depends on the relative heights of the earth at the two points, plus gravitational variations. If the other side is hundreds of feet lower, he'd shoot hundreds of feet into the air, unless the air barrier is really strong and he splats against it when attempting to escape from the apparently hermetically sealed friction-free environment.
