I have just determined that the "Sanford Uniball Vision fine" pen can go through the washer without leaking ink, and continues to write afterward.

Wow! I don't think I've ever tried that.

I have determined through experimentation that a unit of ChapStick can go through a full wash/dry cycle and emerge completely squeaky clean inside and out. None of its contents are ever seen again, in the tube or on any of the clothing.

You don't have that problem with tubes of Carmex - but I recommend waiting half an hour or so before applying, so any residual water has soaked back into the balm.
