I lived many years in which almost all poinging {getting visibly crushed out over someone} resulted in serious disappointment, and as a result I habitually put cold wet towels on my poing tendencies, especially those that involve people. So when I see other people poinging in what looks to be a carefree manner, I am envious.

Part of the pleasure of poinging (love that word) is that it's so exhilarating, but yes--poinging that ends badly scars the poinger and then makes her much more reluctant to poing further. I think it's easier to poing over completely inaccessible people or things; that way you get all the fun and none of the pain. It's what I do--it's probably cowardly! I think I just want to say poing over and over again for the next several minutes.

One would be completely right! *grin*

BTW, your photograph of Alice makes me so sad--what a lovely girl. I wish she would have made it. Glad you're remembering her.
