Male nudes used to be much more common in art than they are now. These days, pictures of Michelangelo's David tend to include a photoshopped fig leaf. Of course, this is partly because pictures of exposed male genitalia (even unerect) can trigger criminal prosecution while pictures of naked women don't necessarily, but that's an entirely different rant.
